Criante

Alcamo, Italy

Criante is a family-run winery located in the rolling hills just outside the small town of Alcamo, an hour's drive west of the city of Palermo in Sicily. Criante is run by two brothers, Enrico and Davide, and is assisted by sommelier-trained Irene.

Criante is certified organic in both the field and the cellar. The focus is on the classic grape varieties that have always grown in the western part of Sicily. The wines are pure and direct in expression, the input into the cellar is as minimal as possible. The vineyards are all beautifully situated with views of the nearby bay and the Mediterranean, whose sea breeze helps to cool the grapes under the baking Sicilian sun. The wines from Criante are all well-shaped, well-made and kissed by the Sicilian sun.
